HC Deb 31 July 1998 vol 317 c727W
Mrs. Gillan

To ask the Secretary of State for Defence on what date the Lynx of HMS "Cornwall" was replaced by a Sea King; where that helicopter is normally based; and what instructions were issued to the crew on embarkation concerning planned humanitarian or other activities. [54472]

Mr. George Robertson

HMS "Cornwall" has operated with a Sea King helicopter since at least February 1996. The Sea King on board HMS "Cornwall" during her deployment to West Africa was previously based at RNAS Culdrose. The Flight Commander attended a brief which covered a wide range of operational issues. The flight did not, however, receive specific instructions on humanitarian activities prior to their embarkation.
