The White Paper, "A New Deal for Transport: Better for Everyone" (Cm 3950), was published on 20 July. The Welsh Transport Policy Statement, "Transporting Wales into the Future", was published on 24 July.

My Department has given an undertaking that a Green Transport Plan, covering commuting and travel in the course of work at the Department's main offices will be in place by March 1999.
