§ Mr. Matthew Taylor
To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he will support the proposal put to his Office for a millennium lottery specifically to fund longitudinal studies of European children in the next century, sponsored by the European Forum for Child Welfare; and if he will make a statement.
§ Mr. George Howarth
We have not received any proposals. They would need to be put to the Gaming Board, and would have to comply with the requirements of the Lotteries and Amusements Act 1976. Under the Act, it is unlawful for tickets in unauthorised lotteries, including overseas lotteries, to be sold, or for such lotteries to be advertised, in Great Britain.
