§ Mr. KidneyTo ask the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food what are the Intervention Board's spending plans for the next three years following the Comprehensive Spending Review settlement; and if he will make a statement. [54384]
§ Mr. Nick BrownThe results of the Comprehensive Spending Review for the Intervention Board (IB) are incorporated into Chapter 18 (MAFF) of the White Paper on "Modern Public Services for Britain: Investing in Reform". The key figures for IB are:
§ Mr. MorleyIn 1997–98, the Department (core-MAFF and Agencies) spent some £3.6 million on the procurement of personal computers, and £3.1 million on mini-computers/file servers. There was no expenditure on mainframe computers. Including ancillary/related equipment (eg printers, cabling and network hardware), total capital costs amounted to some £11 million.
These figures (which are VAT inclusive) exclude related consultancy, support and running costs, as provision of this information would incur disproportionate cost. However, as a further indication of expenditure on IT technology in core-MAFF (only), total IT programme expenditure for 1997–98 amounted to some £41 million.
