§ Mr. DenhamThe amount of Council Tax Benefit depends on the level of council tax liability, less the amount which the individual is expected to contribute. The rates of personal allowance for Council Tax Benefit are based on those for Income Support, which are intended to cover day to day living expenses. However, the Income Support rates are not set on the basis of a "basket of goods", and there are no separate amounts for specific items.
