§ Dr. WhiteheadTo ask the Secretary of State for the Environment, Transport and the Regions what the outcome of the Comprehensive Spending Review was for the Ordnance Survey. [52367]
§ Mr. RaynsfordThe resources that have been made available to Ordnance Survey for the three year Comprehensive Spending Review period are as follows:
Year £ million 1999–2000 23 2000–2001 19 2001–2002 18 These resources reflect this Government's recognition that a significant part of Ordnance Survey's work is vital to the national interest, rather than simply commercial in nature. To this end, a National Interest in Mapping Service Level Agreement (NIMSA) is being negotiated between the Department of the Environment, Transport and the Regions, as customer, and Ordnance Survey, as supplier. It is intended that the agreement will commence on 1 April 1999. NIMSA will comprise a set of explicit targets and Ordnance Survey's performance against these will be monitored annually.
668WIn addition to resources for NIMSA, resources are also available for other investment required by Ordnance Survey.
