§ Mr. Win GriffithsIn 1996–97 average net farm incomes for cattle and sheep farms in the Welsh Less Favoured Areas fell by 22 per cent. compared with the previous year, to £14,300. In 1997–98 they are forecast to fall by just over 40 per cent. compared with 1996–97, to £8,500. The Government recognise the seriousness of the situation and has taken significant steps to help livestock farmers.
