HC Deb 20 July 1998 vol 316 c434W
Mr. Keith Simpson

To ask the Secretary of State for Defence how much has been spent on providing temporary accommodation for the Joint Services Command and Staff College at Bradwell. [51297]

Mr. George Robertson

The decision to accommodate the Joint Services Command and Staff College temporarily at Bracknell (not Bradwell) was taken by the previous Government. The accommodation at Bracknell consists of existing buildings previously used by the former RAF Staff College, supplemented by temporary accommodation units. The total spend on providing the temporary accommodation is now estimated to be some £8.9 million, which compares favourably with the original estimate of £10.2 million. This figure includes the provision and maintenance of the temporary units until 2000, the provision of IT and relocation costs.
