§ Mr. FatchettThe FCO's Scholarship programme for overseas students comprises the British Chevening Scholarships (in co-operation with the Department for International Development), an annual grant to the Marshall Aid Commemoration Commission for Marshall Scholarships, and a contribution to the Commonwealth Scholarship and Fellowship Plan. The principal objective of our scholarship programme is to win long term friends overseas for Britain. Scholarships are targeted at potential leaders, decision makers and opinion formers in about 150 countries.
32WIn Latin America Chevening scholarships are used to promote our twin objectives in the region of the increased trade and investment and closer political ties, with an increasing emphasis on good government and human rights.
