To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment, Transport and the Regions if he will make a statement on the progress of the local government finance review.[47628]

Mr. Raynsford

On 30 March, the Government published three consultation papers:

  • Improving local financial accountability;
  • Business rates; and
  • Capital finance.

The consultation period closed on 1 June. We are currently considering the responses and will take account of these in preparing our planned White Paper on modernising local government.
