To ask the Secretary of State for Health what representations his Department has received on the sale of vitamin B6. [49191]

The Department and the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food have received over 12,000 representations from a variety of sources including consumers, organisations representing consumers, Members of Parliament, practitioners and retailers. Many of these are standard letters.

My hon. Friend the Minister of State, Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food and I met representatives of certain organisations representing consumers, manufacturers and retailers of dietary supplements, and representatives of complementary medicine interests, to discuss proposed controls.
