HC Deb 19 January 1998 vol 304 c397W
Mr. Baker

To ask the Prime Minister if he will list the occasions since 1 May 1997 when he has used a train in the course of his official duties. [22923]

The Prime Minister

[holding answer 15 January 1998]: I have made eight train journeys since 1 May 1997.

For reasons of practicality and security it is not always possible to travel by rail.

Mr. Baker

To ask the Prime Minister what steps he has taken to encourage the use of public transport by Ministers. [22939]

The Prime Minister

[holding answer 15 January 1998]: All Government Departments have been asked to draw up and implement green transport plans with the objective of minimising the environmental impact of their Department's transport activities.

Ministers and Civil Servants will be expected to play their part to meet their objectives.
