§ Mr. MorleyExpenditure on agri-environment and other measures which have as their primary aim the protection of the rural environment is shown in the table. The table also shows this expenditure as a percentage of total agricultural support.

This is reflected in a lower percentage figure for expenditure on agri-environment and similar measures. A number of other measures also benefit the rural environment as part of their overall objectives. These include programmes to increase awareness of the environment among the farming community, and measures in support of upland areas.
