HC Deb 23 February 1998 vol 307 c88W
Mr. Baker

To ask the Secretary of State for Health if he will list the properties and land owned by his Department which he has identified as surplus to requirements, giving in each case their estimated value. [30324]

Ms Jowell

The Department is reviewing the use of all its assets, including identifying assets which are surplus to requirements, as part of the Comprehensive Spending Review which will be completed this summer. Of the buildings occupied by the Department, St. Charles School, Brentwood, has already been identified as surplus to requirements. It is not possible to give an estimate of its value as this will depend on the circumstances of its disposal. For accounting purposes surplus assets will be valued in accordance with the relevant provisions of the Resource Accounting Manual.
