To ask the Secretary of State for Wales if he will list the GDP of each county in Wales since 1977. [29483]

Mr. Hain

The information requested in respect of the old counties of Wales is given in the table, for those years available since 1977. A single figure is given for the counties of Dyfed and Powys, because separate estimates cannot reliably be made.

These data are published by the Office for National Statistics; the estimates for 1993 and 1995 were published in the January 1996 edition of "Economic Trends" and the estimates back to 1977 are available in the Library of the House.
