§ Mr. Nigel Griffiths[holding answer 9 February 1998]I understand from Directorate General IV of the European Commission that currently no bids for UK regional electricity companies have been notified to them under the European Community Merger Regulation. Were such a bid to be so notified my right hon. Friend the President of the Board of Trade would consider the handling of the case on its merits at the time.
