§ Mr. Lilley
To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer how many invoices sent to the Inland Revenue were not paid within(a) 30, (b) 40, (c) 50 and (d) 60 days in the period since 1 May 1997. [29186]

§ Dawn Primarolo
[holding answer 12 February 1998]: Since 1 May 1997 the Inland Revenue has paid 322,816 invoices. 95.58 per cent. were paid within 30 days. The number of invoices not paid, including those in dispute, within this period is:

(a) 30 days: 14,916

(b) 40 days: 11,256

(c) 50 days: 9,969

(d) 60 days: 8,845.
