§ Mrs. LaitTo ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer what discussions are planned in ECOFIN during the British Presidency to reduce the gap in excise duties on tobacco and alcohol between the United Kingdom and its continental partners. [27928]
§ Dawn PrimaroloIt is my current intention to discuss the minimum rates of excise duty for tobacco products in ECOFIN following production of the European Commission's report on their review. The report on alcohol is overdue but at present it seems unlikely that the Commission will complete their work during our Presidency.
