To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment, Transport and the Regions what measures the Government are taking to encourage development on brownfield sites in the North-West Region. [26495]

Mr. Raynsford

The Government encourage development and re-use of brownfield sites in the North West region principally through the application of Regional Planning Guidance (RPG13) which informs the production of development plans within the region.
