§ Mr. GerrardTo ask the Secretary of State for Scotland what eligibility criteria have been drawn up for access to combination drug therapies for people with HIV-AIDS living in Scotland; and how these differ from guidelines in use in the rest of the United Kingdom. [26005]
§ Mr. Galbraith[holding answer 27 January 1998]: It is for individual clinicians to determine the appropriate treatment in consultation with the patients concerned and having regard to any locally agreed treatment protocols. I have recently set up an expert group, part of whose remit is to recommend appropriate treatment protocols for combination therapy for HIV patients.
