HC Deb 16 December 1998 vol 322 c555W
Mr. Hayes

To ask the Secretary of State for Education and Employment if he will make a statement on the provision of data for the subsidised employment option under the New Deal. [64171]

Mr. Andrew Smith

[holding answer 15 December 1998]: Over 11,000 young people have found work through the subsidised Employment option of the New Deal for 18–24 year olds, in addition to the over 27,000 young people who have found unsubsidised jobs. This figure is drawn from the latest Government Statistical Service data to the end of September 1998 and the provisional Management Information to the end of October 1998.
