Mr. Webb

To ask the Secretary of State for Social Security if he will publish a breakdown of the £40 better off figures cited for lone parents who take paid employment as a result of the New Deal programme prototypes by amounts of(a) child benefit, (b) maintenance, (c) family credit, (d) net income from earnings, (e) housing benefit and (f) council tax benefit; and if he will break down the equivalent income figures which applied before paid employment was taken. 3. It is assumed that claimants will take up their full entitlement to other benefits.

4. Based on a sample of 296 claimants who have moved from Income Support to Family Credit, taken at the end of March 1998.
