To ask the Secretary of State for Social Security what estimate he has made of the take-up rate of war pensions. [62873]

It is not possible to estimate take-up of War Pensions. Only a minority of former members of the HM forces suffer any disablement due to service.

We estimate that 16 per cent. of service personnel discharged from the HM forces since 1945 have claimed a War Disablement Pension.
