§ Mr. BlunkettThe £19 billion figure relates to the UK. The table gives the resources for my Department's areas of responsibility as published in the Comprehensive Spending Review White paper, split between central government and Education Standard Spending, which is the support for recurrent spending on education by local authorities in England.

These will be supplemented by PFI credits of £350m in 1999–00, compared with £130m in 1998–99. Decisions on the deployment of schools capital resources between grant and credit approvals for 2000–01 and 2001–02 will be taken during 1999 in the light of consultation on the schools capital strategy and on decisions by schools on their status within the new schools framework.
