§ Mr. RookerThis Government are sympathetic to the idea of encouraging "Fair Trade" in exports of some products from developing countries. On bananas, we have, as Presidency, initiated discussions in the context of the current negotiations on the EU regime on what might be done to promote the marketing of Fair Trade bananas. We await a communication on this from the Commission. It will of course need to respect our obligations under the World Trade Organisation.
