HC Deb 08 April 1998 vol 310 c336W
Mr. Kidney

To ask the Secretary of State for Education and Employment if his Department (i) maintains and (ii) requires local education authorities to maintain a register of approved providers for the teaching of dyslexics. [37343]

Ms Estelle Morris

The Department maintains a list of non-maintained special schools and independent schools approved as suitable for children with special education needs. The Council for the Registration of Schools Teaching Dyslexia (CReSTeD) maintains a register of schools that help dyslexic children. The majority of children with dyslexia will be educated in their local maintained school with appropriate additional support.
