HC Deb 20 November 1997 vol 301 c258W
Mr. Reed

To ask the Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport what estimate he has made of the value of the tourism industry to(a) the East Midlands, (b) Leicestershire and (c) Loughborough.[16571]

Mr. Tom Clarke

In 1996, the tourism industry generated an estimated £1,700 million in the East Midlands and an estimated £370 million in Leicestershire.

Official data sources do not provide reliable estimates of tourism expenditure in Loughborough or other sub-county local authority areas.
