asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether they will provide a breakdown of the costs of the report of the inspectors appointed to investigate the affairs of Guinness plc, including the costs of the secretaries to the inspectors, fees paid to counsel instructed by the Department of Trade and Industry and the costs of producing the interim and subsequent reports.

The cost of the Guinness inspection to date is £3.15 million. The cost of the inspection at the time that the interim report was produced was £1.55 million. The separate costs of the secretaries to the inspectors and fees paid to counsel instructed by the department are not available.
