HC Deb 18 March 1997 vol 292 cc515-6W
Sir John Hannam

To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment how many disabled people were accepted as homeless and in priority need by local authorities in England during 1996. [20352]

Mr. Curry

Information is given on the numbers of households for whom local authorities accepted responsibility to secure accommodation, under the homelessness provisions of the Housing Act 1985, in the quarterly information bulletin entitled, "Households found accommodation under the homelessness legislation: England", the latest issue covers 1996. Table 3 provides a breakdown of acceptances by category of priority need, including one for households with a member who is vulnerable due to physical disability. Copies of the bulletin are in the Library.
