HC Deb 11 March 1997 vol 292 c144W
Mr. Morgan

To ask the Secretary of State for Transport what regulations govern the requirement for ambulance trust district transport service minibus drivers to be medically tested for their public service vehicle licences; and when these regulations were last reviewed. [19671]

Mr. Bowis

The medical requirements for drivers of minibuses depend on a number of factors, including the number of seats in the vehicle and the date on which the driver obtained a licence. The requirements were reviewed recently in the context of the second EC driving licence directive, whose licensing provisions were implemented, with effect from 1 January 1997, by the Driving Licences (Community Driving Licence) Regulations 1996 (SI 1996/1974), the Motor Vehicles (Driving Licences) Regulations 1996 (SI 1996/2824), and the Minibus and Other Section 19 Permit Buses (Amendment) Regulations 1996 (SI 1996/3088).
