HC Deb 04 March 1997 vol 291 cc582-3W
Ms Rachel Squire

To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland how many 16-year-olds gained five standard grades in each year since 1991. [18420]

Mr. Raymond S. Robertson

[holding answer 3 March 1997]: Standard grade statistics are collected for S4 pupils and not for 16-year-old pupils. Most S4 pupils, however, have attained their 16th birthday, or will shortly do so. The number of pupils who gained five or more standard grades is listed. Statistics for those who gained standard grades at levels 1 to 3 are available from 1991. Information on pupils who gained five or more standard grades at levels 4 to 7 is, however, available only from 1993.
