HC Deb 16 June 1997 vol 296 cc51-2W
Mr. Flynn

To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland what estimate he has made of the average amount owed by further education(a) students and (b) mature students in Scotland to (i) the Student Loans Company and (ii) personal banks as a result of and at the end of their period of study, broken down into local authority areas; and if he will make a statement. [2745]

Mr. Wilson

The amount owed to the Student Loans Company Limited is an operational matter for the Company.

I have asked the Chief Executive to write to the hon. Member, although the information may not be available in the precise format requested.

Information is not held centrally on the extent of borrowing from personal banks.
