The Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food has asked me to reply to your Question about the area of woodland currently managed by the Forestry Commission in England.(2683)The Forestry Commission's woodlands in England are divided between two Regions and the total area of land managed by each at 31 March 1996 was:-
- North and East England: 159,171 hectares
- South and West England: 106,064 hectares
The Forestry Commission's Annual Report for 1995–96 provides greater detail, on pages 106–107, including the area managed by each Forest District together with a map of the boundaries of the administrative regions. A copy is in the library of the House.
