To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland (1) what representations he has made to the Foreign and Commonwealth Office concerning the ratification by the United Kingdom of the Council of Europe's charter for regional and minority languages; [10376]

(2) what assessment he has made of the impact of the ratification by the United Kingdom of the Council of Europe's charter for regional and minority languages on the (a) Gaelic and (b) Scots languages in Scotland. [10377]
