To ask the Secretary of State for Defence what key targets have been set for the Naval Aircraft Repair Organisation defence agency for 1997–98. [10382]

The agency's key targets for 1997–98 are as follows:

Quantity Target: To achieve 98 per cent. of scheduled quantity of MOD sales orders in year and thereby achieve the master schedule.

Customer satisfaction Target: To achieve no more than 90 customer complaints.

Timeliness Target: To achieve 93 per cent. of the delivery dates agreed with MOD customer.

Cost Target: To achieve a reduction in the full operating cost of the NARO DA, from the 1995–96 figure, of at least 2.9 per cent. This is to include a reduction of at least 5.25 per cent (£2.3 million) in operating costs, of which £1.5 million is mortgaged, and at least a 1.5 per cent. (£1.2 million) reduction in the cost of material consumed, and assumes constant output.

Volume Target: To utilise 100 per cent. of the available capacity by ensuring existing and, when required, additional customers furnish the programmes of work against which resources have been allocated.
