To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs from what budget the United Kingdom will fund its additional contribution to the UN. [6353]

Negotiations on the level of assessed contributions to be paid by Member States to UN budgets for 1998 and beyond will resume at the UN General Assembly in October. It is therefore too early to predict what change, if any, there might be in the level of the United Kingdom's assessed contribution.

The United Kingdom's assessed contribution to the UN Regular Budget will continue to be met from Vote 2 of this Department's budget.
