The Chancellor of the Exchequer has asked me to reply as the Director of the Office for National Statistics to your recent question on the percentage of men aged 50 years and over who were in full-time employment for each year since 1980.The information for Great Britain available from the Labour Force Survey (LFS) is shown in the table below. There are no comparable figures available prior to 1984.
