§ Mr. HagueAt January 1996, 561 primary schools had classes where at least part of the curriculum was taught through the medium of Welsh. The average class size in those schools was 23.6 pupils. The average class size in schools similarly defined in January 1995 was 23.5 and in January 1994 23.1. Figures could be provided for previous years only at disproportionate cost. No average teaching staff cost figures are available.
