§ Mr. Nelson[holding answer 13 January 1997]: There was no substantive discussion at the World Trade Organisation ministerial conference in Singapore on the relationship between trade and the environment. In the conference declaration, Ministers reaffirmed the importance of the work of the Trade and Environment Committee and confirmed that it should be established on a permanent basis to carry that work forward.
