To ask the Secretary of State for Education and Employment if she will list those organisations(a) invited to attend, (b) who attended the "Going GM" conference for head teachers and governors scheduled to be held in Warrington on 21 October; and what was the total cost to public funds of (i) organising and (ii) running the conference. Invitations to the "Going GM" conference in Warrington on 21 October 1996 were sent to head teachers and chairmen of governors of all LEA-maintained primary and secondary schools in Cheshire, Knowsley, Liverpool, St. Helens, Sefton, Wirral, Bolton, Bury, Manchester, Oldham, Rochdale, Salford, Stockport, Tameside, Trafford, Wigan and Lancashire; 118 delegates attended the conference, 90 representing primary schools and 28 representing secondary schools.

The conference cost around £3,500 to organise and £10,700 to run on the day.
