§ Mr. Ron DaviesThe Government cannot change the Assisted Areas status of one area without considering the claims of other areas. The European Commission has the power to impose a limit on Assisted Area coverage so that, if we upgraded one area, we would be required to downgrade another area. Any future review of Assisted Areas will involve a consultation process.
