Mr. Rhodri Morgan

To ask the Secretary of State for Wales what consultations he is undertaking in relation to the future of the Information Group of the Welsh Health Common Services Authority as regards linkage with a health authority or the Welsh Assembly. [21812]

The Department has established a group representing the Authority, Health Authorities and NHS Trusts to consider options for the management of all of the Authority's functions and it will report in the Spring.

To ask the Secretary of State for Wales (1) what representations he has received concerning the impact of the Welsh Assembly on the future management responsibility for the information group of the Welsh Health Common Services Authority; and if he will make a statement; [21814]

(2) what proposals he has to retain the information group of the Welsh Health Common Services Authority as a single entity after the establishment of the Welsh Assembly; and when he proposes to make a statement about the future of the groups. [21815]

The Department has established a group representing the Authority, Health Authorities and NHS Trusts to consider options for the management of all of the Authority's functions and it will report in the Spring. I have received one letter about the future of the Information Group and its contents will be taken into account in preparing options.
