§ Mr. RookerA number of representations have been received recently from branches of the Standing Conference of Women's Organisations asking for Olestra to be restricted to medical use only.
This fat replacer cannot, however, be used as a food ingredient in Europe until such time as it has been approved under the EC Novel Foods Regulation (258/97). To date, no application for approval of Olestra under this regulation has been received.
