To ask the Secretary of State for Education and Employment what assessment he has made of the advantages of extending the New Deal programme to those economically inactive individuals who are not officially registered as unemployed. [21317]

Both the New Deal for Lone Parents and the New Deal for Disabled People offer support to people who have been economically inactive. We will evaluate the impact of our welfare to work programmes and keep their coverage under review.
