§ Mr. WebbTo ask the Secretary of State for Social Security how much extra in NICs he estimates will be raised from employers as a result of the decision not to index the earnings brackets for the three lower rates of employers' NICs. [19362]
§ Mr. DenhamNo employer will pay more.
If the earnings brackets for the three lower rates of employers' secondary Class 1 National Insurance contributions were increased by £5 from April 1998, the total amount of contributions paid by employers in respect of 1998–99 would be reduced by an estimated £125 million in a full year.
