HC Deb 16 October 1996 vol 282 c1007W
Mr. Wareing

To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department what plans he has to review the use of juries in fraud trial cases; and if he will make a statement. [40553]

Mr. Maclean

[holding answer 15 October 1996]: The Government are keeping the handling of long and complex fraud trials under close review in the light of changing circumstances and recent developments.

An examination of the role of the jury is one of the important issues which arises in this context and the Government are considering carefully the merits of any potential change.
