Mr. Morgan

To ask the Secretary of State for Wales if he will list the staff numbers in full-time equivalent employed by his Department as at(a) 1 April 1995, (b) 1 October 1995, (c) 1 April 1996 and (d) 1 October 1996; and what is his estimate of the numbers who will be in post at 1 April 1997. [41030]

Mr. Hague

The number of full-time equivalent staff employed in my Department on the specified dates were:

  1. (a) April 1995: 2,481
  2. (b) October 1995: 2,406
  3. (c) April 1996: 2,295
  4. (d) October 1996: 2,248.

Staffing plans for 1997–98 will be published in the departmental report early next year in the usual way.
