To ask the Secretary of State for Health how many suicide attempts have been made at the Broadoak psychiatric unit, Broadgreen hospital during the past two years; and if he will make a statement. [40301]

The available information is as follows:

  • September 1994 to August 1995: two unexpected deaths; one open verdict, one still awaited;
  • September 1995 to August 1996: two unexpected deaths; inquest verdicts awaited.

Figures relating to suicide attempts are not available centrally.
