§ Ms Roseanna Cunningham
To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will make it his policy that the Saltire or Lion Rampant is flown in the place of prominence over Edinburgh castle(a) on St. Andrew's day and (b) for the duration of the stay of the Stone of Scone in the castle; and if he will make a statement.
§ Mr. Michael Forsyth
[holding answer 26 November 1996]We have been considering for some time the arrangements for the flying of flags. On St. Andrew's day, and for the foreseeable future thereafter, the Saltire will be flown in a prominent position over Edinburgh castle, in addition to the Union flag.
