To ask the President of the Board of Trade what plans he has for changes to subsidies for renewable energy schemes. [553]

On 2 November 1995, I announced my proposals for a fourth Renewables Non-Fossil Fuel Obligation Order for approximately 400 to 500 MW of new capacity. I expect to make the order in spring next year.
The Government hope that it will be possible to announce proposals for a fifth order in 1997, to come into effect in 1998. However, before that there will be a review of the NFFO process.
